2 Day Workshop - Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th July

Traditional Goldwork is the execution of fine embroidery with gold threads using established techniques and designs on cloths such as velvet, damask, silk and linen. Creative Goldwork is the vision of extending the traditional discipline to the next level, by using the established forms freely and creatively without limit. On the first day of class you will explore and learn some of the traditional stitching techniques on flat cloth. On day two of the class we will become more adventurous and will stitch gold threads in three dimensional designs. The butterfly measures 12cm x 10cm. At the end of the day you will take home goldwork samplers with English, Peruvian and Australian blends! Tutor Bella Lane is a master in goldwork, and a winner of the top prize for Traditional & Creative Goldwork at the Royal School of Needlework in Hampton Court Palace, London in both 2008 and 2009.
