Silk Tops Mulberry Turquoise

Mulberry silks create a beautiful sheen when laid on wool in your wet felting. They can also be used for you needle felting projects.

Mulberry Silk is created by feeding mulberry leaves to domesticated caterpillars (Bombyx Mori) .
These in turn produce cocoons consisting of pure white silk fibres.
In China, the commercial silk industry is underpinned by millions of small farmers and individual families’ handfeeding mulberry leaves to these caterpillars in boxes in their homes. They then sell these cocoons to the silk manufacturers.
