2 Day Workshop - Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th July
Create this stunning embroidery piece ‘Whispering Dew’ in the ancient hand embroidery form known as Casalquidi. In this workshop you will learn how use linen and different thread weights to craft a textured three dimensional surface. The linen is worked in counted ‘Four Sided’ stitch, pulling the linen threads together to create an open square surface for the dimensional embroidery to be worked over.
Casalquidi is traditionally worked in natural colours; tone on tone, using a number of dimensional stitches, most prominent being the ‘Casalquidi’ stitch. Bobbles, tassels, picots and knots are another distinctive feature of this form of embroidery. Gold beads representing the droplets of dew have been used to add character to this piece.
This table centre is a wonderful way to enter the world of textural and dimensional embroidery. The completed design measures 30cm x 22cm not including tassel length
