2 Day Workshop - Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th July
Exceptionally fine, rare and beautifully crafted hand embroidery techniques on hand woven textiles are to be found in the ancient cultures of Peru, reaching back as far as eight thousand years. Tutor Bella Lane from London, as well as being an expert in Peruvian and South American embroidery, has personally travelled widely in Peru and beyond in research of both the oldest and more contemporary embroidery techniques. Together you will explore and undertake stitch ’sampling’ of a wide range of South American embroidery stitches, both ancient and modern. This two-day class is formatted so that you will return home with a cluster of individual ‘South American embroidery samplers’, and some further consolidation homework, as part of your personal stitching portfolio to be used as desired in your own future projects and work.
